Why Should You Sell Over the Holidays?

Today I want to talk to you about the benefits of putting your home on the market during the holidays. Many sellers have been telling me that they plan on waiting until the first of the year to sell because that’s when all the serious buyers will enter the market, but that’s not necessarily true.

The advantage of listing late into the fall season or early winter and over the holidays is that people who are taking the time during this time of year to look for a home are typically more serious buyers than look loos or people just beginning their search.

Another advantage is your house may stick out more due to the decrease in inventory, therefore it can increase the chance of your home selling in a faster amount of time. A lot of sellers wait till the new year or spring to sell so you could possibly beat them and a possible lower sale price by listing in a market with fewer listings.

And remember, just because you get an offer doesn’t mean the buyers will ask you to move out on Christmas day. Dates are negotiable!

Over 3,000 homes sold between November and December of last year, yes we were in a different market, so let’s be conservative and say 1,500 sell….. that’s still 1,500 buyers looking for a new home, maybe yours is the one they are looking for!

As I mentioned, buyers that are out there looking for property right now are much more serious, motivated, and have a good reason to be out shopping during the holidays. So if selling is on your new year to do list get an early start and get it sold now instead!

If you have any questions, or are interested in putting your home on the market, give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to speaking with you!
